Hi guys, no one in my new office likes footbal, can you believe that??? Thanks for creating the league, Marcel! Cheers, Janina aka Patrícia |

Hi Marcel, thanks a lot for initiating this! I will try to promote further participation a bit on the first floor ;) |

Hey Marcel, this is great. I am really looking forward to see how the European Championships evolve. @Janina: that is truly unbelievable? Why is that? @all: I find it great that everybody sees his team as being the winner. I am very much in favor for Portugal, but I am not so sure about the Netherlands ;) |

Hi guys, thanks for joining and thanks for promoting the competition. It should be great fun to have many more participants. Keep in mind that some people need to be forced a bit so don't hesitate to use some pressure! ;) @tlangen: Yeah, it's great to see this national proud but you might be right that it makes less sense in my case. :( Let's see what happens! |

What a pity... I was too late to register and I'm not able to take part to the game any more... I would already have been right with the first lost game of my home country - although the referee missed a penalty! Arnaud "The Cross" |

We were at the stadium this evening. It was great fun. Organization was fine (just too slow to allow us, anxious fans, in) and the transports were well organized. Now I need some milk w/honey to get my voice back! If you go to any match TAKE FOOD with you. Cheers, Pedro aka lusitano |

Actually to get back to Thomas' point, the thing is I hate to predict against my favorite teams because then you feel ambivalent about cheering for your favorite teams! This way my incentives are aligned. Best --CT |

what a great start of the EM! I feel glad for Germany, but I really feel bad for Switzerland and Austria. Both countries would have deserved to win the "opening" games in their homecountry. Especially Austria was very unlucky with the penalty they got after 4 minutes .... |

EURO 2008 has finally started! Unfortunately with a loss of Switzerland though. As for our competition, it has a decent size with 20 participants (excluding those who did not make or finish his predictions). Welcome to everyone! With this number of players, the prizes will be as follows: 1 - CHF 50; 2 - CHF 30; 3 CHF 20. For the moment, Kerstin is taking the lead. You can keep track of our competition and your performance on this website (http://www.euro2008-predictions.com/league/CDM-EPFL+prediction+game). Good luck to everyone! |

After the first round of games, we have a new leader: Intan. But the players just under her are still very close so everything is still possible. Let's hope that some of the nice games we had in this first round can be an example for the coming days! |

Congrats NETHERLANDS for a fantastic game!!! Wished Germany would have played half as well yesterday... In the highly possible case that we get eliminated before you guys, I'll become an official Holland supporter! .................. Ach, who cares -- I AM now an official Holland supporter ;-) |

Great to have you on board! Allez les oranges! |

After the second round of games (of three rounds in the group stage) it is (again) Intan who takes the lead in our competition. She has taken a bit of a lead but behind her it is still quite tight. Anyway nothing has been decided yet! In the third and final round of games in the coming four days, the maximum amount of points to get is 48 (8 games * 6 points). In addition, you get 8 points per correct team in the quarter final, giving the potential of another 64 points! After this it might be a lot clearer who can still make it to the top of our competition. Good luck to everyone for the final round of games in the group stage! |

The group stage is over and we can get ready for the quarter finals! As for our competition, Intan still takes the lead but it is very close. The first four are for example within 10 points. And there are still 78 points to be won (4*10 for correct semi-finalists, 2*12 for correct finalists and 14 for correct winner) but of course everybody is constrained by who they still have in their predictions. Good luck for everyone in the competition and of course for your favorite team! |

I think there are quite a few surprises in the EURO after the quarter finals. And on a personal note, I can say they weren't always nice ones but the games were generally quite attractive, which is of course very important too. In our competition, I think the final stage will also be quite exiting. Well, at least for the people that still have a chance to gain some points and get to the top of our competition. Thanks to David, we know that 7 people can still get in the top-3 and 4 people can still win, depending on who makes it to the final and who becomes European champion. For more details, see ODY 4.16. Good luck, Marcel P.S. I would like to ask those who haven't contributed yet, to do so as soon as possible (at least this week as the prizes will be given after the final). You can also contact me and ask me to collect the money. Thanks! |

Despite the fact that both Germany and Spain are great football countries, I still think it is generally a surprise that these two teams made it to the final. But of course the teams deserve all the credit for this achievement. Let's hope it will be a nice final and that the best may win! In our competitions, nothing has been decided yet. The top-3 of our competition will be determined by who wins the final! Important note: There are still two people who didn't notify me about their participation, let alone contributed. Please contact me as soon as possible to confirm your participation. If I don't hear from you before the final, I assume that you will not participate and you will be taken out of the final result to determine the results for the CDM competition. |

Hello Marcel and all of you, Thank you for all thw emails and the organization. I have follow the Euro very intensively. I didn't contribute yet, I ohad a very crazy week at work... but anyway I found it is not fair to contribute just when you knows that there is a 50% of possibilities to win... So Congratulation Intan! you are the winner!!! Let's support so Spain on Sunday!!! Best regards, Montse |
|

Hi Montse, thanks for your message and your sportive attitude. This seems to be fair to be too. So, I will take you out of the "official" CDM results (for the prizes), which of course doesn't take anything away from your excellent performance in the predictions. You did a great job. Congratulations! And if Spain wins, you are a winner anyway, regardless of our competition! ;) Again, thanks for your message and I appreciate your attitude! Good luck for the final! Marcel |

First of all, congratulations to all the Spanish people for winning the EURO 2008. Excellent job! As for our competition, Montse is the one with most points. Congratulations! However, as you have been able to see, she didn't manage to "register" with me on time and, more importantly, to contribute. Therefore, the "official" top-3 is: (1) Abraham, (2) Intan and (3) Patrick. They win 50, 30 and 20 CHF, respectively. Congratulations to the three of you and in particular to our winner: Abraham. Like Spain, many people perhaps wouldn't have expected him to win (including himself) but he did a great job in his predictions, especially towards the end (e.g. three correct semi-finalists). Congratulations to Abraham! See you soon and I already look forward to the World Cup 2010 in South Africa! Best, Marcel |
